spidtat My name is Travis or you can call me spidtat. I am from Southern Indiana and I have lived here my whole life. I am married and I have 1 daughter (11) and 1 son (7). I am an Electronics Technician by trade but I am currently head of the Training Department. I like tattoos and have several myself but if that is not your thing no big deal either. My favorite kind of music is the Grateful Dead but I will listen to anything really. I started crabbing in June of 2007 when my mother brought my daughter home with 2 of the ugliest little creatures I had seen in my life. The more I watched them the more fascinated I became with them. Unfortunately the first 2 did not survive due to my lack of knowledge so after that we decided to do our research before buying anymore. After getting everything setup properly I went out and purchased 2 more PP's and 2 E's which we still have 3 of to this day, the other passed due to PPS. I currently have 30 crabs, 6 species, in a 75 gallon tank which is the center piece of our living room. I also have my own store Keep On Crabbin' which has been open for a while now. I make food mixes and sell mixes from both Crabotanicals and Happy Hermit, if you get a chance check it out Wink the link can be found in the shopping tab on the right side of the screen. As for other animals I have 3 cats, 2 Tuxedo coated cats Nala and Sarabi, and 1 Maine Coon Kiara. They are as intrigued by the crabs as much as I am but luckily have never tried to get in the tank, and if they are smart they never will because NOBODY messes with my crabs!!! All I can say now is Keep On Crabbin'!!! |

My male fiddler lived for over 3 years (full lifespan of a fiddler) in that water level... no problem. They're shoreline brackish crabs. I've even had the opportunity to see one fiddler species in the wild (Uca Pugilator), and they come out at low tide dipping in and out of little pools left by the tide, then scuttle back to and plug their burrows at high tide.
