Re: Chirping...is it always a bad sign?

short chirps are nothing to worry about that may be the communication side of it. Its when they do steady chirps that are very loud is when they are in trouble. It would be cool if someone recorded diffrent chirps and played them back to see how they reacted.

Re: how long does the actual molt take?

they are usually pretty active right up until the exo its self comes off. Then they won't start eating it for a few days until there new claw hardens up enough for them to break up the exo.

Re: Two of my E's have died from broken spirals

I am so sorry to hear for you're loss. All of my Es are in shells without spirals. But they modify them to there body's and no one elses. When my one E passed from a failed surface molt I thought the 2 other Es would fight over his shell but no. The other 2 tried it on the longest for nearly 10 seco...

Re: Question about E's

they are quite the mole crabs but what you can do is cut a 2 liter bottle in half and push it into the sand where the molter is all the way to the bottom. But mine are quite respectful of molters iv seen them mutable times get near a molting crab and then turn away or surface.

moving a molting crab?

i am getting a 55 gallon tank and was wondering if I can move a molting crab that is under the substrate. my idea was to cut around him as seen in the sticky then carefully slide a piece of plastic under the slab of sand and lift him into the new tank. I will not attempt this yet but if someone can ...
