As someone who has fallen through the floor of a trailer, I'd say get up under where you want to put the tank and shore it up with some plywood and cinderblocks for sure.

Re: My hermit crab is handicapped! HELP
Surface molts are not normal and there shouldn't be multiple experiences with that in one crabitat. Also, they need a varied diet of protein and plant matter, as well as calcium and chitin sources. The care guides linked will be very helpful in providing good care and adequate nutrition for your cra...

Adopt if available.
If you are in the U.S. there is no way to get
them unless you order them from an overseas vendor, which I personally would never endorse or recommend.

Re: Bombing Home: What To Do With Crabs?
I’m not sure where they’re coming from, agh! We keep our home extremely tidy and clean. There are even some around and in the tat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk You can have an immaculate home and still have insects move in. German roaches will come anywhere they have access to moisture and wi...

Re: Glass Shell
I don't like them because they can't "hide" from predators. When your defense mechanism is to hide and not be able to see something and for them not to see you, my opinion/assumption is that if the crabs can still see potential predators through the glass and predators can see them-their natural def...

It’s a giant swallowtail; we have lots of them in my area. I have one that I’ve been saving to mount for a while.

Re: Advice on Australian crabs
@AussieJJDude is our Australian admin! Straws and aussies are the most common crabs in Australia, and aussies tend to need sandier substrate so more sand to coconut fiber ratio.
Pretty much everything else is similar or the same as far as care goes.

Re: Salt water
After doing more research I have found out that the Hermit Crab Salt water mixture I bought isn’t recommended for hermit crabs...go figure [emoji2962][emoji30]. Re: Can I bleach a tank?
You can use 1 part bleach to 10 parts water and make sure the tank is well rinsed afterwards.
You can also use vinegar and water.

Re: How much substrate?
Hello again! I will be cleaning out my 55 gallon hermit crab tank within the next week but I’m not sure how much sand I should buy. Right now I’m planning on using “quickrete premium play sand” which come in 50 pound bags and I want to provide about 10 inches of substrate. I’ll also be getting the ...

Re: Missing crab
Its been 16 days since I took these crabs in. I still haven't seen the pp since it dug down. I'm starting to have doubts whether I even have a second crab. No fishy smell. I check my wyze regularly, but I haven't seen him yet, just my straw, pebbles, all over the food, darker than ever before. At w...

Re: University Student Looking for Crab Research
Do a search for coenobita on scholar.google.com Some are open access, some are behind pay walls but many universities can get access for students. There have been many controlled experiments on rearing eggs in labs, field studies, and of course detailed descriptions of species including reproductiv...

Any help would be appreciated, including anecdotal accounts! I'm also interested in common behaviors and preferences they exhibit when reproducing like o...
