Re: Strawberry crab questions
1. I have 2 straws and a ~38 gallon tank. There are also a couple of small PPs in there. I used to have the straws and 1 Tiny PP in a 20 gallon and it was way too small. They love to climb and dig. I actually had it so that they were running into each other in the 20 gallon. I don't think that I'd h...

Your saltwater pool is absolutely beautiful! I'm sure the hermies love it!
I agree with above, the substrate does look slightly shallow. But other than that, your tank looks good!

Re: The New Tank + Some Crab Pictures! :)
Thank you! They do seem to enjoy it! Both of my straws went down and have been molting since I put them in (almost a month ago!). The small PPs have been running the tank ever since!

Re: Need Some Heating Help!
My lid is mesh too! I have the hood lid from the 20 gallon on top of the mesh lid, and then two and a half layers of tin foil on either side to try and keep the heat in. I may have to try insulating the back over the heating pads too. I'm seriously thinking about going out and buying another heating...

Need Some Heating Help!
I have a 40 gallon tank and have really been struggling to keep the heat anywhere near where it should be (which is pretty warm since I have 2 straws in there). Humidity isn't an issue. I had one large UTH on the back of the tank, and had to keep a space heater pointed at the tank at all times. I al...

Re: The New Tank + Some Crab Pictures! :)
Thank you! The raised water bowls are working very well so far. With my old pool I was having a lot of problems with the crabs tunnelling under so I wasn't able to change the water as much as I would have liked. This has completely fixed that problem! My two straws immediately went under the substra...

Re: Hello from Ontario! – New Crab Owner
Welcome! I'm a fellow Canadian crabber, except I'm on the Quebec side (although, minutes away from from the Ontario boarder).
You have some beautiful hermies! I look forward to seeing you around the forum

Re: Best Way to Mix Substrate - Your Opinions Please
I mixed mine right in the tank. I used a bit more than 2 bricks of EE and 2 bags of play sand and got about 8-9 inches of substrate in my 35 gallon. I soaked 1 Brick of EE really well, and poured that ahead in the tank. Then I poured one whole bag of playsand and mixed it all up with my hands. Then ...

The New Tank + Some Crab Pictures! :)
So I finally got the new tank all set up! It was a much needed upgrade for my 2 straws and 2 PP's who were in a 20 gallon. The new one is around 35 gallons or so. I've got about 8-9 inches of sand and EE mix and it seems to be working well. It's a mesh top lid, so I had to get creative there. I have...

Re: Upgrading and Looking For Heating Suggestions!
I checked out the Ultratherm before I made this thread because I had heard great things about them. Unfortunately, they don't seem to ship to Canada! I'll likely just have to check out Amazon or pet stores and see what other heating pads that I can get! I appreciate all the help and suggestions! Sen...
