Re: finished molt and missing legs?!?!
Update! Cray Cray made it through his molt! It looks like he regrew some of or all of his legs! He came up at around 2:00 am and I quickly put some food in there for him but he just made his way to the moss pit instead. Hes stayed there all night and this morning, he seems a bit lethargic but he di...

Re: New to Hermit Crabs and I hope I get it right :)
when you buy new crabs often times they'll bury themselves for a while, mine usually go down for 2-4 weeks and will even molt sometimes so I wont see the new crabs for almost two months! I'm also kind of new to crabbing (almost a year now!) but the hardest thing for me to learn was having the ...

Re: First molt!
Ive read that when a crab surfaces from a molt that their personality can change, Ive had this happen to me as well. I had an E that was friendly with the other crabs and when he came up he was a total bully!

Re: Temporarily moved my tank and my crab got VERY active?
Just wondering since you mentioned an increase of light, maybe the temperature of the tank has become warmer? Do you have a temperature gauge?

Re: finished molt and missing legs?!?!
Yeah! I think hes still alive down there, I saw he had a little window and it looks like he scattered some sand around it to cover up a bit! Also, since I put the salt water with instant ocean the crabs have been DRAINING it! We've had to refill it at least twice a day  its in a little l...

Re: finished molt and missing legs?!?!
So Cray Cray is still alive. His antennae seem more perky as of yesterday. I found him today in a mini pit as if hes trying to dig down however I'm worried that he doesn't seem to be eating. Today I'm finally going to put some saltwater for them and yesterday I got them some Meal worms. The hermits ...

Re: finished molt and missing legs?!?!
Going to be honest here but I definitely have been slacking off in the fish department I usually give them way more tofu than fish but I will make fish available in their tank 5 days a week? would that be enough? In regaurds to salt water I accidentally got sea salt for fresh water aquariums so I re...

Re: finished molt and missing legs?!?!
One of them already had a successful molt with us the other was a crab we bought on Easter last month, he didnt molt with us before. On the issue of sand I bought two more 50lb bags and some moss so the sand situation should be cleared up. Cray Cray (the hermit missing three legs) is still active, w...

Re: finished molt and missing legs?!?!
GRAPHIC DESCIPTIONS So as I was putting the rest of the crabs in the big tank to ISO Cray Cray (the hermit with three missing legs) I dug up two crabs I suspected were either molting or dead and as I found them they smelled and were obviously dead. It looks like they molted, hardened, lost limbs an...

Re: finished molt and missing legs?!?!
I added the heater and temp gauge its at 75 degrees. I was looking at his pieces of exo? it looks more like he dropped them because some of the legs are not hollow? Dont worry about shells we have a ton of shells but if we put them in the tiny tank theyre in right now there would be less room than t...

This is my first time posting here so I hope this is in the right category. :? Im having a hermit crab emergency! 1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it?
