Richard's Seashells
I just wanted to share with everyone what a wonderfully pleasant experience I had with this company. My crabs are all outgrowing their old shells and none of my largest shells are big enough to suit anyone. I've had a nightmare of a time finding shells the with the right size openings (they are larg...

Re: Cross country move soon, need some advice
Would you recommend using moss as a substrate or do you think I can use a few inches of sand/eco earth? If I use sand I am worried they will dig down, and that moving and driving with the tote will collapse their burrows.

Cross country move soon, need some advice
Hi guys! So I'm going to have to make a long distance move from Missouri to Washington at the end of October. This means I'll be taking my cat, my geckos, and my hermit crabs with me in the car. Obviously I can't move my hermit crab tank without removing most or all of the sand, it's simply too larg...

Re: Just wanted to share a before and after photo of my prog
@Nakkida That looks awesome! It looks like an ExoTerra, do you prefer those to Aqueon Aquariums? Just wondering. Congratulations! It is indeed an exo terra, it's a 24x18x18. I do prefer exo terra tanks because the front opening doors are SO convenient for me. I have a bad shoulder and anything that...

Just wanted to share a before and after photo of my progress
In February 2015 I realized how bad my crabitat was. I changed things to make life better for my old, lonely crab. He had no humidity, barely an inch of sand, an UTH under one side of the tank, no friends, commercial food pellets, no salt water dish, and painted shells. He lived that way for a very ...

Re: Limp crab, probably surface molting. What can I do?
He has indeed molted for me. Never surface molted, this is the first time. I was having problems getting the heat up where I needed it to be in that tank, but it's been fixed for a couple weeks now. Humidity is and has been normal. I found him a couple of days ago when I was moving some items. He wa...

Limp crab, probably surface molting. What can I do?
I've got a crab up on the surface who has gone limp. No smell, but he's not moved in about two days. Just a few days ago I had seen him out and about, eating and dipping into the salt water dish. That's what leads me to believe he's molting. He's not moving, and hanging a bit out of his shell. Have ...

Re: Having a hard time heating a 20 gallon tall
Thanks for the quick reply. :) I had a feeling that would be the case, I suppose I thought the two would compensate for it but obviously not! (I had one already so it was a cheaper option to just buy another small one) Do you happen to know of a site that carries the Ultratherm or Flukers brand for ...

Having a hard time heating a 20 gallon tall
So I have a 20 gallon tall tank and I have two Zoomed ReptiTherm UTHs attached to the back above substrate level. They're both the small size, 6" by 8" and rated for 10-20 gallon tanks. And I have two. My issue is, they're just not getting that temperature up. They both are working and new, they fee...

Re: Returning with some questions!
Thanks for the reply! My goal is to keep all 3 tanks. I originally wanted to have 3 crabs in the 10 gallon, adding the two new ones to the tank once my old crab came out from his molt safely. But then I came into possession of the 20 gallon and I had all the supplies to set up another, so I really c...

Returning with some questions!
Hey again guys! It's been about 2 months since I completely redid my 10 gallon setup for a single crab who lost his entire left side (big claw and 2 legs). He dug down in his new tank about a week later and I have done quite a bit of researching and improving since then! For starters, I got him some...

Re: Dried veggie mix?
Oh that's great, thank you! And yes, I've got a lot of things to mix up for them. Along with the big group of stuff I bought I also have organic worm castings, dried shrimp (commercial food, but it's Wardley's brand which I read was okay), cuttlebone, peanut butter, honey, a few different kinds of o...

Dried veggie mix?
Hi guys! I recently went out to a local organic food store to see if I could throw together a fun mix for my crabs (yes, crabs! since it was recommended I get a friend for my little loner, I set up a smaller tank that'll be turned into an isolation tank later and got two more crabbies) Here's the st...

Re: Realized I need to do better, starting fresh & need advi
He has lost his big claw leg and the two legs behind it. At first I thought he was only missing the big claw and one leg, but once he started moving around I realized it was all of them on that side. He's a trooper and is still able to get around but I'm hoping that after this molt he'll have at lea...
