Re: Mites!
My old tank had mites on the crabs/dishes/ substrate. Then a few spiders (and a centipede or two) snuck into my tank and over a month I noticed the mites vanished. Now my crabs are sparkling clean and in their new tank, so maybe uh...put a wolf spider in your tank? >.> I never had any luck with salt...

That's a normal position. One of my big crabs likes to sleep like that. Cute crab btw C:

Reputable UTHs?
Hi everyone. So basically I live in Canada, which sucks because I'm limited when it comes to the Ultratherm Brand you guys like. Beanfarm ships to Canada, but for some reason they wanted 50$ for shipping (scam much? LOL). Now they sell it on the American Amazon for 50$ but after converting to CAD an...

Re: Recently surfaced crab being weird
What kind of shells are you offering? Usually Tapestry (Petholatus) and Striped (Fluctuosus) are the top choices for PPs. The only small shells I have left are 11 of those generic green turbos, a couple of pink murex and a couple of the striped fluctuosus. The Strawberries moved into the remaining ...

Re: Recently surfaced crab being weird
It sounds like quirkiness! Nothing you described sounded bad, so he's probably just a weird crab. Most crabs do choose to move fast between shells, but some linger hanging out if there's no danger around. Shortly after I posted that he switched into yet another new shell (taking his sweet time of c...

Recently surfaced crab being weird
So my third small Ruggie came up last week in my old tank after molting for approximately 4 and a half months and so after a salt water bath I moved him into the new 70 gallon with my other crabs. I noticed the day after he was "hanging out of his shell" sometimes, and I read through that other thre...

Re: cold crabs
65 is fine if it's not a regular occurrence. They won't magically drop dead if the temperature drops below 75 as they face all kinds of natural weather fluctuations in the wild and never have that constant 80-82 heat and 85% humidity.

Re: Maintaining humidity and substrate moisture
150 watts for a 20 gallon is overkill. I myself use a 60 watt day bulb and a 100 watt red heat light for night time and my main tank is a 70 gallon tall.

Re: ~Surfacing Straws~
They're adorable. I can't wait until mine are all "grown up" and fancy looking like yours. I've had them for 2 weeks and they'd rather destroy my decorations and knock the moss into the pool than molt. :c

Re: Second time owner of Purple Crabbie
I would skip the 10 gallon and go straight for the 20/29 gallon were I you. The small ones seem to be super active and love digging/climbing over everything. Or if you live near any Petcos in America like someone said they're doing their dollar per gallon sale (I wish this was a thing in Canada ;-;)...

That seems to be its favourite spot as that's normally where I see it during the day. The other two seem to prefer heights. c:Crabinski wrote:Yes! That's my favorite pic, too!Candie wrote:Soo cute! I love the first picture where the strawberry is peeking out from inside the log

Re: Crabs exposed to chemicals
Yeah I definitely wouldn't worry about a candle. They're far more durable than we give them credit for. I didn't even think about the chemical thingy when my dad and I were cleaning the basement a few months ago (with several really smelly chemicals). Never seemed to bother the crabs and they're all...

Bought my first strawberries
Soooooo after a very long wait, I got my hands on some baby strawberries after a surprise call from Critter Jungle saying they finally got some in stock (bought 4 Ruggies from them back in September). Here are some crappy pictures of them. It didn't help that they're still on high alert and can see ...
