Re: New Fountain for Winter?
As someone who lives in Minnesota I understand the issues of a cold weather region with dry winters. From what I have read as long as you can anchor it down and make it easy for the crabs to escape and not drown it should be fine. I am not 100% if there are different types of ceramic coating some of...

Wow! What an awesome set up you have. Do you have a lot of active climbers? I suppose with the PP's you must huh?

Re: I'm Mandi & here they are
Hey, at the very least it's better than the conditions at the pet store. Not only that, but in the future you're setting them up properly. I hope you have no trouble finding what you need and good luck!
P.s. How are your daughters liking them so far? Are you learning about them together?

Re: Crabs not moving
I see a lot of the more experienced people on here, talking about crabs, de-stressing for a few weeks after arival. Maybe that's what they are doing?

Re: Crabitat Misting
Thanks for the info! I guess if I don't need the in cage system, or the waterfall, I feel as though not risking the bacteria and other health concerns is a better approach. Maybe I will set up a crabless home, that way I can manage to get some hands on experience as I research these things. Thanks a...

Crabitat Misting
Is it o.k. to get an in-tank misting system? Do I mist my tank with fresh water, or salt water? If I am supposed to use salt water, is it o.k. to mist sphagnum moss hides, or will that "bleach" their nutrients? And finally if an in tank misting system is fine, can it have a waterfall, or will the fl...

Re: New and wondering what's up with this behavior
I am just in the researching stage, so you may want to wait for someone who is experienced on here to answer you but, from what it sounds like your crabs are getting ready to molt. If this is indeed the case you should still put them into seperate molting containers, with moist deep substrate so the...

New here, and future crab owner.
Hello! This seems to be the place to introduce yourself, and so this is indeed where I shall do it. You can call me Gryfin, I haven't owned a hermit crab since when I was very young, and sadly, no the 11 year old me had no idea how intricate their care really was. Because of common misconceptions I ...
