It can be installed either way, but the goal is to heat the air in the tank if that helps the decision! Please double check if the exoterra can be safely insulated. Not all UTH can. Sorry misunderstanding the 12x12x18 is the tank size. I'll try both ways and see which gives better results :) thanks...

Quick question, I currently have a 12x12x18 exo terra and 11x11 ultratherm. Should the uth be installed vertical or horizontal? Or does it not matter?

Title says all. My humidity is staying around the 90s. I can't get the temp past 73 degrees. Currently using a plastic lid and using a 8w zoomed uth. 10 gallon tank. Playsand

Suggestions lowering humidity and raising the temp please?
