Dropped Limbs and Dead?
1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it? I use eco earth and it is about 6-7 inches deep. 2. Do you have gauges in the tank to measure temperature and humidity? If so, where are they located and what temperature and humidity do they usually read? I currently have a humidit...

Can I move a molting crab?
Hello, I have to go out of town tomorrow morning and have made arrangements to leave my crabs with a trusted friend. One of my crabs is currently molting in an isolation tank. Is it safe to move him or will this disturb his process?

Re: Just a few questions regarding molting
What are you using for substrate? How deep is it? How large is your tank? Do you have gauges to measure the temp and humidity? Where are they and what do they read? What do you use for a source of heat, just the lamp? What brands do you use for dechlorinator and salt? You are correct that if condit...

Just a few questions regarding molting
So I got a crab back in August of 2018, which is 9 months ago. As soon as I got him natural shells, he dug himself a hole and then came up and changed his shell. He was down for maybe a week or so. This was maybe 1-2 months after owning him, but I can’t remember so it’s give or take. Fast forward to...

Re: Giving E's their own tank?
From what I've read, they should be fine mixed in together, so it seems to be up to you. Crabs are meant to live in colonies and I would imagine the more crabs together, the better as long as everyone gets along!

Ecuador and a Purple Pincher?
So I have an Ecuador hermit crab. Originally I bought him and another Ecuador together to keep each other company. However, within a few weeks of getting the crabs, the other crab passed away :( It has been a few months since the passing of that crab and since then, Roy has been less active and inte...

Re: DID I SCREW UP???
There is a chance it could be surface molting. We recommend waiting until there is a smell just in case, because molting and dying/dead can look similar. After I took off the shell, the panic set in that he could be surface more thing. He was hunched over in out of his shell. I have seen a dead cra...

Re: DID I SCREW UP???
I got him back into his shell as best as I could. He was not moving whatsoever when I pick him up or Took his shell off. I had heard that they move when the malt and so I was looking for any signs of life and really couldn’t find any. There’s a faint fishy smell on his body, but I’ve never smelled a...

DID I SCREW UP???
so I think my hermit crab is dead. I came home and saw him partly out of his shell, unable to move. There were no signs of life. I poked him and nothing happened. I moved him and nothing happened. Last time when my hermit crab died, I was unable to bury them right away and instantly regretted it. I ...

Is my hermit crab dead?
Hi, I have recently purchased 3 hermit crabs, one pp and two ecuadors. We were preparing for a hurricane evacuation and so I put my hermies in a portable plastic container just to make it easier should we need to take them at a moments notice. We evacuated and since then i haven’t had a chance to gi...
