Re: Where to buy Isopods from online that ain’t too pricy?
I’m looking into getting Isopods for my hermit crabs tank setup. I have three hermit crabs and they are in a long aquarium that is 4ft long (I’m not sure how many gallons because it was given to me) and I’m also looking to put the isopods in a 10 gallon aquarium. How many should I get and where? I’...

Re: Single Crab needs home.
hello my crab needs a home. Their roommate had passed away back in January. I had gotten a new crab for him. from the pet store, which was really sick and had also passed away recently. I’ve been looking to surrender my crab to somebody, not looking for money, but wouldn’t turn any down. I would sa...

Re: UVB light
A UVB light is not necessary even if you choose to do a 12/12 day night cycle. I personally don't do a 12/12 cycle but have LED lights (I have nothing against 12/12 just dont even have a consistent bedtime for myself much less the crabs lol). Though through non-scientific experiments, its been shown...
Re: Molting
Yes, agree completely! thank you for clarifyingcurlysister wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 11:58 pmWord of caution that if your other crab is underground still, do not push anything down into the sub, or you may harm the underground crab.
And of course ^^ to the rest of your advice as well
Re: Molting
Hello! I have had ny hermit crabs for about 2 weeks now, they mostly have been buried and today I was looking to see if they were still alive and accidentally disturbed one of my little ones who just molted! His exoskeleton is still in the tank. I put him down and put the exoskeleton right in front...

Re: Dried food? and food prep?
For meat, cooked and uncooked are equally safe. Raw would be closer to what they naturally find in the wild but not necessary. You can definitely feed cooked if you're more comfortable with that. For the crushing it will depend on your individual crabs preferences. My crabs have always been super la...

Re: Suddenly Purple Crab
Totally normal! They can change colors based on environmental things like what they eat and most especially right after a molt. Bright colors are generally sign of good health (not that relatively less bright colors would inherently be dangerous or worrying). Enjoy watching your new bright purple li...

yes! Though mine get quite lazy with bigger items like that or even seeds so if you are able to grind a portion of it up, that may help

Re: Isolated hermit crab question
So in the iso tank he has several other shells available to him and they are on a tray with a little bit of the fresh water and he seems to be more active without his shell on. I read the link you attached and I've already done everything it says except for holding him in my hand. He also currently...

Re: Isolated hermit crab question
So should I be worried that he is naked or should I just let him be and let him do his thing while he regrows his strength? This is actually considered an emergency! Please follow this link https://www.hermitcrabassociation.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=122302 And I had a question about adding mor...

Re: PPDS tank. PLEASE REVIEW
Is there anyone available that can help me understand the controversy? Hi, yes! It's ironic that something that one encounters so early on in crabbing is so controversial. I am happy to help if I can. I faced a similar question a while back myself if you search in the group you can find that if you...

Re: Land or Marine crab?
I got some nerite snails in the mail and one turned out to be a crab. I don’t know if hes a marine crab or a land crab. He has dark red legs which made me think he was a land crab but when I put him next to water he crawled in and has be in it over an hour. He’s the size of a large pee so it’s hard...

covered the outsides with substrate. (Then I started messaging other hermit crab enthusiasts about what to do Oh yeah no that will block his air sadly. Also, one thing I had to teach myself my first year or two of crabbing is to temper this instinct to "react and then ask" NOT a dig at you genuinel...
