New crabitat

For all my concerns upon discovering how different it would be to care for them here both are thriving and have gone thru two molts successfuly :cheer: So I “r...

2 new crabitat occupants.
 one year ago we bought home Dolphin and Daytona from our beach vacay. I considered myself a pretty eco owner having grown up in Miami and had HC as pets for many years. I am glad I reached out to this forum as I quickly learned that care in middle ten eas a bit more complicated that c...

Re: Above ground molt
Ok here is the template and an update: Both my babies have survived their first molts and are active and exploring. The above grounder has dug a little burrow in the soil right under the edge of a driftwood piece and is quietly recovering her strength but she has been to the food (ate the whole drop...

Re: Above ground molt - update
I did leave the exoskeleton. Re: Newbie (but not) and figuring things out.
Welcome! There are great links of information on here. If rosemary is on the unsafe list, for whatever reason, better to be safe than sorry. But to the basics...did you bake the sand before putting it in the tank? That will kill off any bugs that might have been in it. Are you using dechlorinated f...

Above ground molt
Hi I’m new just posted today in the newbie forum. Yesterday while cleaning the cage my daughter uncovered a buried crab. It sealed fine and this morning it was out in the water dish when I left. I came home to her crying the her crab was dead! It has moved several inches from where I last saw it and...

Newbie (but not) and figuring things out.
I am a 51 year old mom who grew up in S. FL. I had a tank full of hermit crabs for YEARS when I was young and few issues. BUT I had access to clean beach sand, driftwood and lived in a home that predated central air so no humidity/ temp issues. This past summer in Daytona I gave in and let my daught...
