I'm looking for some crabs to order online. Any good websites that are reliable, and you know don't mistreat the crabs (or have any infected crabs). Also just wanted to ask when it's good to order them is winter too cold or can it be arranged?? I'm sick of getting crabs from the pet store and having to worry about mites or diseases. please halp

There are a few places online but there is still chances of the crabs coming with mites.
Livehermitcrabs.com sells PPs, Es, indos, violas, strawberries and other species. Sadly her business isn't run very well. For the whole run down on her business check out this thread

I know quite a few people who ordered from her had crabs that came with mites.I wouldn't recommend lhc from hearing about other people's experiences.
Reptile city has straws and PPs,

I only know one member who ordered from here recently. From what I remember, she got her straw pretty fast and seemed to be in fair condition.
kitkathermiesworld is going to start selling exotics but I haven't heard any updates recently, here is her thread

Other than those I don't know of many others. If you're looking for exotics you could see if any stores can order them for you, here
http://www.segrestfarms.com/index.cfm?f ... op.locator I know you said you didn't want stores but if your wanting exotics it may be worth a shot.

Ordering crabs for delivery is not recommended in the colder months. Remember that these little guys are tropical creatures and do not handle low temperatures well at all. They face enough stress and trauma in the shipping process under the best of circumstances. I see that you're back East (transplanted New Yorker here

) and know you're already facing some pretty ugly weather conditions so hold off on ordering any new crabs until at least spring.
Hermitcrabdc had a good suggestion: if you have any reptile or exotic pet stores in your area, they probably have a deeper list of suppliers and may be able to order for you, especially if you're interested in species other than PPs and Es. Again, hold off until the warm weather comes.
