So about 3 months ago i went to the moa and there was a hermit crab stand. They said they were closing and they were having a big sale. they treated their crabs surprisingly well for a store so i was impressed. then yesterday, i went to the mall with my friend and the stand was still there????? IT was very sad though. The sand was a thin layer of colored crap and there was no heat or humidity and every single hermit crab was in a horrible painted shell

i didnt have much time so i couldnt check it out further. Im going to go back there later and do some snooping. Im thinking to write a complaint if i can find their website this stand went downhill

Probably sounding a bit pessimistic but...
Most likely things won't change...

In a store its impossible in a stand, it pretty much won't happen. They can move anywhere, so even if they "are gone" most likely they have moved to a different mall.

I have very politely asked if the kiosks would be amenable to updating their care information.
Usually they take down my name and number and promise that the owner will respond, and they never do.

The crab I just got was from that stand- the conditions they sell them to you in are meh. You have to buy a kit and food so at the end it's $25 or so for a crab, some neon gravel, a really small critter keeper, an extra shell and a little piece of wood.
Sooooo
But the guy working there was very nice and suggested that I look online for more care tips. Which is what landed me here scrambling to try to keep my new crab happy.
He does have a spray bottle though, and the sand looked damp so I assume he's at least trying to keep moisture up for them. Not that it's going to work too much but.
Yeah. I don't expect it to change but it does seem as though there is some effort being made, even if it's small.
