ASAP! Carpet Cleaning

Post by odelayheehoo » Fri Apr 05, 2019 8:31 am

I have a company coming by this afternoon to give our carpet a cleaning, as it has gotten a water spill onto it recently, and we just thought it was a good time to give it a clean anyways. I am worried about my crabs, we chose a chemical free company, but I have no idea if they are going to use a different type of cleaner, as most chemical odors are not good for the crabs, and they are cleaning in every room that carpet is at, which includes my two crabitats.

What do I need to do?

I’m a beginner crab owner but if I were you I would cover the tank so there isn’t any air holes. That way the chemicals can’t get in. Or, I would take them to a different area of the house. Hope it goes well!
I have had pets in the past, but my family can’t have any furry or feathered ones due to allergies. I usually try my best to help and currently trying to set up a crabitat. I also try to treat others with Love!❤️

Definitely cannot move the tank, as it is a 75 gallon and I have molters down, but I can seal up the airholes with some painters tape.

As Oliviet said I would just cover the tank with a blanket or towel. Possibly add plastic wrap under you lid to seal it completely until the smell goes away. The crabs should be fine with a sealed tank for a few hours.

They are doing a pre-treatment that is supposedly natural orange peel, and I have not covered it, but I have a bit of plastic wrap covering the opening on the topper tank where it rests on the main tank. I may be able to get a towel on in time.

Edit: I had time to cover the openings with masking tape and put a towel overtop.

Awe, that must be hard. Do you have one of those video things?

I’m thinking about it too but I don’t have the money yet.

I could get one, not sure I would get the SD card right away, but it would be nice to check on my crabs while I am away!
