Flukers natural wood half log cavern

Post by Carolynd » Thu Apr 11, 2019 10:25 pm

I was wondering if anyone has used this half log. Flukers told me that it was Douglas Fir. I'm new to the hermit crab world. My sister bought my granddaughter a hermie's and I have been taking care of him all winter. After fighting to keep him warm and humid I don't want a piece of wood to kill him.

People have had it with their crabs without issue. Some have expressed concerns of using 'evergreens' with crabs due to the oils they contain, which is a natural insecticide.... Old wood don't contain these oils, but some like to err on the side of caution and not have anything potentially dangerous...

Thanks for answering. I think I will go without it. Better to be safe than sorry.
