Hey not meaning to be rude, but you are a fairly new crab owner. It is probably best you stick with purple pinchers until you have more experience. I'm in the same boat. I wou L like to get some eccies but I'm only a six month crabber. I say wait IMO

I think if you do enough research on each species, and have the tank conditions good for both species, you should be good. However, sometimes some people have problems with things related to aggression or digging up molters so you might want to be careful. Because of that some people separate different species to prevent it. I think if you get crabs that prefer oval or D shaped opening shells instead of circle openings, that could help prevent shell fights. (You might want to pray about it too😉) hope this helps!

What does IMO mean? I’ve seen it a lot but I don’t know exactly what it means.

P.s. I’m a beginner crabber too so you might want to wait till more experienced crab parents come.
I have had pets in the past, but my family can’t have any furry or feathered ones due to allergies. I usually try my best to help and currently trying to set up a crabitat. I also try to treat others with Love!❤️

Be sure you read the care sheets for whatever species you are thinking about getting. Read whatever you can. Make sure you have enough room in your tank for that species and that it's set up properly for them. Excotics all have their special needs depending on the species. It's not as just getting a new crab and putting it in your tank and thinking it will be good to go. To me they do require a more care than pp's.

I have had crabs for about two year, my wife had them like 15 years. I got my strawberries last July after researching their care and asking questions before I got them. I still ask random questions when I'm unsure about them, and am still paranoid about keeping their tank ideal. I have 6 strawberries and 2 PP's in a 75 gallon tank. I have never had an issue with either type fighting the other. I did see one shell fight between a new rescue straw and one of my originals. Even with dipping the new guy in water. Once I added a few more shells I didn't have anymore issues.
