I made this second level out of PVC. After watching how the crabs interact with it I'm afraid someone will get themselves wedged between the pipe and the glass. On the lower level I have put some craft mesh up for a barrier. The upper level I'm more concerned with. I just watched my largest who is in a 3 inch long babelonian shell get himself stuck and unstuck from the upper level. I'm worried that some of the smaller ones might not be able to do that. Should I cut the pipes and then place it more in the center so that I can sleep at night without being paranoid some rock headed crab (which is all of them) won't be going along against the glass and fall and then make it worse by trying to power it's way through and end up wedged in there?

I would! I've had crabs get jammed between objects before and ditch their shells. Always leave a big enough pass through so they can't do something stupid.

Looks awesome! Here I was going to suggest getting a larger tank to fix the issue!

I've already figured out after 3 tanks in 2 months that no matter how big it is, it's never big enough and that I'll always want a bigger one.... (I really dont use that love seat... I could build a frame for that 75 G that is still on sale for another couple weeks... I still have sand and a whole bag of EE.... I bought WAY too much PVC... I bet I could make toppers with the 40 and 20... Oh my.... It would be better if I just extended my desk out... there's plenty of room the top of it already has that sturdy divider in it... wife needs a sucker fish still... I need to take some measurements...

That 75 gal is not as big as I thought it was... it's only 12 inches longer, and here I was thinking it was like 2x as long and the 40 breeder.... I still have wood left over from the braces I made... It's only like an inch or so wider and a few taller so stacking is definitely and option... It's like now that I finished the 40, I have a good idea of what it takes and doing a few more things... that's not so hard... the 40 will stack on the 75 SOO much better than the 20 will on the 40... the 40 is kinda heavy tho and I will have to take it off to get good access to the 75.... but I could just move a couple things over and if I'm going to extend my desk out a foot I may as well just build myself a whole table/shelf....
