Dried Seaweed

Post by Rustycrab » Wed Jan 08, 2020 4:11 pm

Hello, everyone! I have a question.... can I offer dried seaweed (the kind sold in pet stores for certain fish), to my hermies? I have recently adopted 6 smallish PP Crabs and want to offer them a variety of goodies.
I change and add stuff to their tank every so often, to keep intrest up!
Thanks!

Yes, you can. To save money you may wish to try your grocery store, which will likely offer similar products.

Ours like Nori. It's what you wrap sushi with. It's cheap and you get a lot.

Nori has been roasted, so it changes the nutrient profile a bit. The fish food can actually be the same thing, just packaged for fish.

If you have any ethnic grocery stores nearby, try there for different seaweeds. I try to hit up a couple different places whenever we go to Cleveland because I adore homemade miso soup and need konbu and wakame for it. The crabs love it, too!

(Grr. It uploads right side up and then displays sideways.)

We got purple seaweed at Petco in the fish area. Looks like Nori, but it's purple. They like the red too.

I feed 3 types of seaweed - sushi nori from grocery store / amazon, and red and purple were from a LFS.
