shell size right
I have a small gumball size hermit crab who I think is getting ready to molt and probably going to change shells. I have a shell that that is twice as long , is very light, but the compartment where he would stay is the right size which it is a cone snail shell from petco, would it work? thanks

Re: shell size right
Shells are very difficult to judge for crabs. Crabs can be very picky with choosing new ones. They check the weight, opening size, and shape of the inner hole. We can offer them a dozen new shells that appear perfect for them to us. Out of those dozen they may find one that is just right. Even if you have ideal shells doesn't always mean they will choose them. Sometimes the crab will pick way oversized or too small of ones. Shells are probably the most frustrating part of owning hermit crabs! The HCA recommends 3-5 shells per crab based on individual crab size as a minimum. More shells is always better.
