Hermits being weird don't know if I should be concerned.

Is it normal for hermit crabs to eat wood? I placed the branches that I removed from my bonsai inside my hermitat for them to climb on. I noticed as of late that they weren't eating the food I was going them. So I noticed today that the branches were frayed and torn apart. Is this normal behavior for hermits?

Yes, crabs are known to eat wood like cholla wood and cork wood. Unless the wood isn’t safe for them, you shouldn’t have to worry
