Identifying hermit crab species

Post by Razzpanda » Mon Oct 12, 2020 10:39 pm

I know this isnt super important because I am mostly sure that my hermit crab is a pp but I'm not 100% sure.

I dont have any photos before he molted but ever since he molted his color changed. Before his molt he didnt have much color at all and was extremely pale (probably from a poor diet at the pet store). But from my basic understanding I assumed he was a pp.

I heard this is common for them to change color after a molt but now he has no purple on his big claw at all. Instead he is very orange and I'm not sure anymore that he is a pp. I am also not sure how to add images onto this page.

He is a pp. After molts pps will change colors completely, sometimes including the claws. There is also no other land crab kept in captivity with that description. Add pictures using either the tapatalk app or imgur.

One of my crabbies, Larry, has gone under and has finally decided that hes ready to stay down. Before he went in, he was a very pale orange, I'm under the impression that when they begin to fade in colors or are missing limbs that's when they decide to do so. Least I hope that's why he hasn't come back up, I wish you could see through the ground. Heh. I went though and looked up pp pictures, the color ranges are so pretty though, some are no purple and dark orange, etc.
