Fall

Post by Pumpkincrab » Fri Nov 06, 2020 11:55 pm

Hi.
As some of you know Pine has not been feeling herself for a few days although she is getting better.
Tonight I picked her up carefully to see how she was doing (I generally don't handle the crabs but I wanted to make sure she was recovering.) She was tucked in her shell, and in about 3 seconds overall she got up and scurried off my hand and falling.
She fell around 3 feet onto soft carpet. I inspected her afterward and she took no damage, her shell is okay and she is acting normal.
Is there anything I should be worried about?
Anything to look out for?
I was going to hold her over a table - then again she came out so quick I never had a chance.
Thanks.

I would just keep an eye on her. Accidents happen.

I wouldn't stress too much, they be known to fall out of trees in the wild, 3ft is like jumping from the bottom step for them!

At most keep an eye, as sluggish behaviour can mean she is preparing to moult but could also be a sign of other underlying issues

she has been quite sluggish recently. I suspect she will molt soon as she molted about 1 month ago. She is a small crab and I know small crabs molt every 1-3 months, correct?

Yeah, roughly that time frame. I've had some smaller crabs do back to back moults pretty much (like less than a month), but on average it's around a month or so.
