Is any/all play sand safe? Is pool sand o.k?

Hi, Is any brand play sand safe to use in my substrate? My local hardware store no longer carries my old brand and now only carries Quickrete brown play sand. It appears to be a mixture of sand, silica and quartz. It is labeled as a cement and concrete product..... Has anyone used this brand? Alternatively, Is pool filter sand o.k? Thank you.

hi, i use play sand from home depot it’s about $4.30 i think for a 50 pound bag. i’ve never used pool sand for crabs although i use it for my fish tank. the playsand works very well though and i believe the brand is quirkite.
i do not know about cement sand. i would say probably not though

Thank you crabs_lex for your reply. I think that is the same brand I am looking at, Quikcrete. I feel better knowing it is safe.
