Got a new crab yesterday. He kept going to the saltwater bowl. Then he picked a spot and stayed there since last night, I seen the food wasn’t disturbed so I tried moving him over to the food to show him. After moving him my son looked and realized he has lost a leg!!!! What do I do?! Is he ok??

I would recommend you don't touch him anymore for a while and let him de stress. Losing legs is due to stress.
Did he come home with a lost leg or did he lose it when he got home? Sorry, your question wasn't that descriptive.

He didn’t come home with a lost leg, he must have lost it last night throughout the night because he was walking around the tank and stuff last night and hanging out at the saltwater bowl and dipping into it. Okay I will not touch him for a while, thank you so much!! I didn’t know if that was a sign of death or something. I’d say he probably is stressed. I got him from petsmart last night. I got one and brought it home and it was totally DEAD!!! So I called back up there and they exchanged it for this one.

Should I take the lost leg out of the tank or just leave it

You can take the dropped limb out or leave it. It doesn't really matter. I would take it out.

Have you read through the care guides? They have most of the information you have been asking--plus stuff you haven't thought of!

Start here:
viewtopic.php?f=120&t=119273

And here: (food)
viewtopic.php?f=25&t=92557

You asked earlier in this thread about your substrate and you said yours was 4" deep. Is that 4" all over, or do you have a deep side and a shallow side? Your sub should be 4" at the shallow end. Four inches is pretty shallow, but if your crabs are tiny or small, you're probably okay.
My tank is bigger than yours but I keep the center third a depth of 12"; the right third is about 9"; and the left third is about 10.5." Deeper is better.

Did you say you had eggs? They are really good for crabs--shell and all. I "bake" my empty egg shells with the little bit of left over egg in them in the microwave for a minute or so (in 20 second intervals). Then I crush the shells into a fine powder and feed that.

Do you have any popcorn? Not the microwavable kind, but real popcorn? If so, you can air pop it and feed that.

Do you have any honey? It's a crabby superfood. Give them a tiny dish. Molasses is another great food.

Oraganic foods are recommended and best, but you're in a pickle so feed what you have. Take care to not add any salt or seasonings to the food. Also go for single ingredient foods such as fruits and veggies, eggs, honey, nuts, grains, etc.

Other than to feed them, change their water and maybe add the rest of your sub--you should be 100% hands off. Our presence stresses the crabs and touching them ups the stress a 1000%. They are super fragile right now.

Get that heat and humidity up too!

Wishing you continued good luck with them.

Yea it is 4 in everywhere. They are smaller crabs. The one that is under now is the biggest I have. I’m scared to add new sub because one is under and I just got two new ones and don’t want to touch to much.....

Any form of preparation is fine, though raw does make a bit of a mess.
