Re: Big shells
Hello!
I've personally found amazon.com to be a great website to order shells from, and that is where I have gotten all of my shells for my crab. When you order shells online, from a website like amazon though, it's important to note what type of shells, and what size of shells you are getting for your crab. My hermie who I had for four years was a Caribbean hermit crab (also nicknamed as a purple pincher) and he preferred a special type of greenish colored shells called "turbo shells" because they have a rounder opening that fit his body type better.
I don't know much about the shell preferences of other types crabs, but if you have a purple pincher, then turbo shells are usually a good shell to let your crabs try out! You know your crab more than anyone else though, so as long as you know what kind of shell they have liked using as their home in the past, you can probably figure out what type of shells you should get. If you have any questions about figuring out your hermit crab's shell type, just reply here to ask, or make a post about it somewhere on this site and there will be lots of people willing to help ya out!
The next thing to note when ordering online though, is that you should double check what size of shell you are getting, because you won't be able to physically see how big it is until it arrives in the mail. My hermit crab was wearing a shell which had an opening about 1.5-2 inches across the gap last time I bought shells for him, so when I went looking for shells on amazon, I would order multiple shells in a purchase that were labeled about 2-2.5 inches varied. I'll try to put the link to the amazon page I used last time below, so if you want to use it for reference you can!
If you know of a physical store in your town, or nearby, that could be a better option for you though. The benefits of buying shells in person are that you can see what sizes your shells are before hand, and you know exactly what you are buying. If you live near a beach there is probably somewhere you can buy good shells. If you are like me though, there might not be a convenient store nearby to get shells from, so it might be easier to order online from Amazon if that is the case for you.

Hope this helped you! If you have any questions or want me to clarify about what amazon is or anything else that I mentioned, let me know and I'll try to reply as soon as I can!
Good luck!

Thanks - Amazon is where I've obtained larger shells . So it's just wondering if anyone knew of another place To get them. The shells from Amazon have worked out well.
