Heating pad?
Should I get a heating pad for the tank ? All I’m using is a daylight bulb but I’m not sure they’re warm enough at night as my family often leaves the door open for fresh air what’s everyone’s opinion? Thinking 8 watt might be to much maybe 4 would be better I don’t want cooked crabs
By the way I have 5
Sushi
Sabastian
Salt
Pepper
And Zoidberg

Re: Heating pad?
You need to have a thermometer and hygrometer to monitor the temp and humidity inside the tank. That will give you an idea of how much more heat you need inside.

Re: Heating pad?
There was one attached to the tank when I got it it almost alwyas reads between 70-82 except for one or two colder nights I’m sure it went below that, do u have an idea if that’s ok ? I got a bubbler for the salt water pool this morning at the pet store so hopefully that helps add humidity

What kind is attached to the tank? It doesn't sound accurate. And you need to measure the humidity as well as the temperature. Digital are more accurate than analog.

Re: Heating pad?
im ot sure what kind t is honestly but im looking into getting another one i checked a pet store yesterday with no luck but going to a different city tomorrow to check somewhere else, in the mean time i got a dome light with a stand which was better then my other one and wrapped plastic wrap all around the open parts of the top and around the light as much as possible without it have a chance to melt onto the fixture, i also added a bubbler and a new pool 2x the size of the previous one, and i obviously mist regularly throughout the day this pool is better too because it has a gradual slope like a beach front. i dont have tapa talk or id post a photo, i also added more substrate that a soaked first in dechlorinated spring water, hopefully all this helps my crabs feel more at home.. also curious what i can use for them to climb on ? i built my own second level out of wood when i was boredd just not sure how ill allow them to get up there, any tips appreciated !!
thanks for your help again by the way!!

Try a hardware store! I got my Acurite digital thermometer/ hygrometer at a hardware store, not a pet store. Less than ten buck Canadian!
