Strawberry hermit crabs - Do you own one?

Post by Kellykoala333 » Thu Oct 28, 2021 1:03 pm

Hi guys! As I’ve been learning more about hermit crabs I’ve stumbled on the strawberry hermit crabs. I was wondering does anyone on here have any? Have you successfully had them for awhile??

I’ve been reading online that they are harder to keep alive than purple pinchers. I know they need some specific things (higher humidity, deeper substrate and access to a lot of saltwater) but I’ve heard despite that they are the heartbreak hermits because they don’t typically live long in a crabitat.

I’d love to get some later this year to accompany my PPs but I’m worried I’ll get attached and they’ll die.

If anyone here has some and has kept them alive (and thriving) for awhile, what do you do that you think is helping them thrive?

No surprise there isn’t much info I can find about them online!

Thanks!!
