Should I dig up my Crabs?

Post by wertycow7 » Sun Dec 19, 2021 7:09 pm

I have two medium sized hermit crabs (about the size of golf balls) Who have been buried for more than two months now. This is more time than it should take for them to molt. Should I locate them and remove them from under the surface?

Are you sure they’re not just coming up when you’re not looking and then burrowing again?

Two months is pretty long and I would expect death by the four-month mark.

I’m fairly sure they are not just coming up again because my other crabs seem to return to the surface during nighttime, but these two do not. Also, there are no traces of any holes or mixed substrates in the tank.

I also suggest waiting a bit longer! Two months is only an average. I start worrying around 4 months down.
