Black Hermit Crab

Post by JRich » Wed Feb 23, 2022 8:42 pm

Hi,
I just got 5 new hermits which were apparently PPs. I don't think any of them look like PPs, but at least 4 are similar enough that I would guess they are the same species. Maybe Ruggies or Es?
The odd one out though, I really have never seen one this dark. I know colours can vary a lot, but its so different to the other 4 I just can't see it being the same species.
So, any ideas what any of them are?

Sorry, your photos don't show up. You either need to use the app TapaTalk, or a photo sharing program/ app.

Is the dark one a PP? What an awesome color. I knew the others were E's or ruggies, but I'm horrible with identification lol.

They are all ruggies! We don't see a lot of them since they don't get imported much anymore, but they do come in a range of shades from nearly black to nearly white, usually on a cool blue or green base.
