I just bought a hermit crab and he won't come out...

I did lots of research before I got a hermit crab because I used to have one I got from the mall in high school. twenty years later I wanted another one... Bought him from the Petco we always go to (where we been going for over a year to set up our fish tank with Bala sharks and angelfish and pleco and a pictus catfish and stuff) and so I been watching the hermit crabs. But as soon as I got him he barely comes out. I'm sure it just takes a few days for him to get acclimated... (The lady at Petco made me second guess myself by asking if I wanted the saltwater or freshwater crab because they had labels on the tank for the water dishes, but I'm sure she was just untrained and didn't realized, either that or I'm the idiot)...

Anyway I would love some tips... Or information. Thanks.

Crabs are nocturnal, and often elusive. What's your tank set up? If they have lots of cover and hiding places, they will feel safer and you may see them more. Did he dig right down underground?

Just wanted to add the link to the basic care sheet. Check it out if you haven't already. Lots of good info in there. Image
