I'm I need of help plse . Molting but on top of sponge in his salt water bowl
Hi All.. I'm pretty new to the hermit crab community. Got this little fellar from someone who longer could care for him. He had self buried for Abt a week and half. He came up two nights ago and climbed into his water bowl sat in the water for Abt five hours. Then crawled up on the sponges I have in there and has been there ever since. This morning before I left for work he was still sitting there. Looked a little funny his eyes did. But he moved a little. So I was like ok.. I came home from work only to see him still there but DEFINATELY is molten or has. Not sure. But he DEFINATELY looks way distorted. But he isn't moving at all that I can tell. And I don't know what to do.. and it doesn't seem like this is to normal for him to be molten on water sponges. I have taken photos of him so if you want to see them email me and I'll send them to ya. Totally new to this site. Plse need help and very worried don't want to hurt him. Or kill him.. twystedtwynkles@gmail.com thanks so much!

Hi there,
It's def not normal for them to surface molt. Could you please fill out the emergency template? It will help us see any environmental conditions that can be improved to give your hermit the best chance of survival. Also, you can take any sponges out of the water dishes, they just harbor bacteria. You can leave them in the tank dry for him to munch on tho. If there are any other crabs in the tank you'll need to isolate the surface molter.
