Hydrometer dropped in saltwater. Still useable?

Post by IamSam » Wed Nov 09, 2022 12:35 am

Like it says my hydrometer fell in the saltwater pool. I dried it (It's not digital) now I'm wondering if their is anyway that it's still useable?
I wonder if maybe I could try the salt calibration method and see if it's still reading right.
I feel it's dried out thoroughly, I was surprised how little their is to a hydrometer once you look inside. Is it at all possible that it's fine after it's saltbath?

If you dried it out fast enough to prevent rusting and any remaining salt crystals don't mess with the calibration, it'll be as accurate as it was before. Definitely calibrate though, they're known to read pretty off even when new.
