Digging and then stopping

Post by mboening » Fri Oct 06, 2023 1:44 pm

So for about three months now Jeremy (at least 17) has been lethargic, not moving around to the upper levels of the crabitat, and having difficulty getting into the higher water dishes. This morning he looked like he was going to dig a hole under the sand to begin his molt - it's about his time of year- and this afternoon I noticed that he abandoned that spot, moved to another one and is now laying by th second hole looking exhausted. Have any of your crabs ever done this before? Started to dig and then stopped? I don't know if it's age or something else or ?

My crabs haven't done this, but I haven't had them for long...
I wouldn't be too concerned?!
How is he now?
Just a new crabber trying to take the best care of her crabs she can. :)
5 Purple Pinchers, 15 gallon tank. (4 small, 1 medium.)

Digging patterns can vary, but that paired with lethargy is concerning. Are heat and humidity still within range? Good diet and eating okay?Otherwise it is possibly weakness due to age
