Can someone help me. Yesterday I found these small black bugs in my hermit crab tank they look like springtails but I'm pretty sure they're not they jump whenever I try to touch them and they swarm the food bowl that's in the tank. I'm not sure where they came from
At first I thought they were some kind of fly but now I'm not so sure. Each time when I look it up Google tells me that there's springtails but I'm pretty sure they're not. I don't have any pictures or videos but just know they look like springtails but they're black and they're a little bigger, I know that's not very descriptive but that's all I got. My tank also has a mold mite infestation in my crab tank as well I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. So if anyone knows what kind of bugs they are please let me know or of any way to get rid of them?
Please help, small black bugs!!

Re: Please help, small black bugs!!
those do sound a lot like springtails, and I couldn't find much, but maybe it could be a type of beetle? springtail sizes are around 1/36-1/8th of an inch, are you sure its larger than that? it could be a ground beetle, those are around 1/2--1 inch. this is just a little bit of research I did, so it might not be super accurate. by the way, how did you know you had a mold mite infestation? I am worried I have that but I dont know how to check because my eyesight isn't the best haha.

If you use a photo sharing site, or the TapaTalk app to add a photo, it will make it easier for us to identify the bugs!
