hermit crab seems to have molted in a span of a few days?

I'm not really sure if it actually molted, but since I can see an exoskeleton through the glass and I can see its antennas flickering with a new body, I think it did. Every website says that molting takes a long time which is why I'm confused since my hermit crab only started a few days ago and now it seems almost ready to be on the move again. I have not disturbed it and it has been isolated.

Did your crab molt on the surface?

yes. idk why he didn't choose to go farther down. he like half buried himself in a corner right next to the glass.

Hmmm....a surface molt means that something may not be right in your tank conditions.

The actual shedding process is really quick, just a couple of hours. It's the build up to shedding, and the recovery after, that takes so long. Tiny crabs can be done and moving in under a week, but most crabs need a recovery period of a few weeks to get back to normal. This is why they dig down and stay down for a month or more.
