Moving from Illinois to North Carolina. I am not sure how to safely transport my crabs!

Hey guys! I'm new to the forum; however, I've been a crab mommy for about a year and a half now. I currently live in North Carolina and unfortunately, I had to leave my crabs in the care of my in-laws until we got a bigger place. That time is about to come up and the in-laws are going to be driving down here to bring our stuff including my crabs. I am wondering how I can safely transport them from Illinois to North Carolina. Is it safe to keep them in their tank? What about heat and humidity? The drive is about 14-16 hours long depending on what route you take.
Thanks for the help in advance!

First off, if their tank can be lifted without emptying it/breaking it, lucky you. Just loading it with extra shock absorbing insulation blankets might be feasible for a short trip. If the tank might break before lifting, @motorcrab has a great link to digging your crabs up when absolutley necessary aka probably moving with a large tank
Edited to remove drunken profanity

Thank you for the reply!
Yes the tank can be moved and transported without breaking it. However, the trip is 14-16 hours. I’m not sure if that constitutes as a short move.

Yeah it’s not the shortest drive, but I bet the crabs will be ok with a quick spray before and extra blankets. Be wary of tunnels collapsing which could pose a threat to them if they’re molting.
