Hiding crabs

Post by amygall2 » Tue Sep 07, 2021 9:59 pm

Hey all - I have 5 crabbies who have buried themselves in the substrate and mulch and they rarely come out. I haven't seen any of them personally in like 2 weeks. I can see holes where they dig and they do move stuff around at night, but they never come out when I can see them. New to this forum, but I have everything right in the tank - temp, humidity, food, salt and treated waters. Any advice on how I can get them to be a little more active? I think they only come out to eat/drink and go right back into hiding.

Hermit crabs don’t like being out in the open—they like cover. Having plants, hides, branches, and other decorations for them to use will help them feel more secure.

And, of course, some crabs just like to dig.
