Deep heat projectors
Deep heat projectors
Does anyone use deep heat projectors for your crabs since they don't need super bright light, I was thinking the uvb would be enough light. Also I have a tropical t8 and a desert T8, which would you use?
Re: Deep heat projectors
Not sure what a deep heat projector is. I'd stick with an under tank or pad style heater up high on the back of the tank. In terms of light, I'd use what ever is most natural and looks good to you. From what I've read, UVB is unnecessary.

Like radiant heat panels? Those should work so long as the temperature stays within range for them.
UVB is based on distance to the bulb. They would be fine with either but if they can climb up close go with the tropical.

The are almost like ceramic heater and admit no light. Here is an article about them. https://www.arcadiareptile.com/heating/heat-projector/

Re: Deep heat projectors
I imagine they would have the same issue as a ceramic heat emitter then, which is the risk of burns if the crabs can get close enough. Crabs are like reptiles in that they don't have the ability to sense when they are burning, and because they light to be high they will climb right up to the lid to hang out.
