I'm having trouble getting my water warm, and to stay warm. I'm very knew and doing a ton of research. But cant seem what to do about the water. It keeps getting cold

What is the temp inside your tank? The water will usually be whatever the surroundIng temp is. Temps should be 75°-85°F for purple pinchers. Be sure to check out the basic care sheet if you haven't already.

Well, I just got them. And I was using a basking light But just realized my infrared heat lamp. What I been using for night was what I just needed for all round temp. So I was cleaning my tank. And noticed the water was cold.

If you don't have a thermometer/hygrometer combo, you'll need to get one asap. Digital ones work best. Hygrometers measure the humidity in the air. Crabs have modified gills and need moisture in the air to breath. You always want it to be 70% humidity or higher, but 80%+ is a good number to shoot for. If it's too cold in the crabitat, you'll notice decreased activity in your crabs. If it gets very cold and consistently stays cold, it can cause stress and even death. Heat lamps are known to zap humidity. So a uth (under tank heater) may be better in the long run. Those are mounted on the back and/or sides above the substrate line (never underneath). Ultratherm and Fluker's are good brands.
