I have three hermit crabs that I set up a “crabatat” for according to all the instructions that I’ve seen on the site and I have not seen them since; it has been over two months. I’m afraid to dig in The substrate in case they are molting. However they were small crabs and I wouldn’t think it would take this long to molt. The humidity and temperatures are within normal limits according to the site. I do not smell anything fishy or dead. But the substrate could be masking it. Any suggestions?

Don't worry until at least the four month mark.
The way I look at it is that if they are dead, there is nothing to be gained by digging them up. But if they are molting, digging them up at the wrong time could potentially be deadly.

Thank you! I shall anxiously wait! Before they buried themselves I was so intrigued with their seemingly individual personalities. I only hope they are doing their magical earthy thing & will emerge curious to their surroundings!

"Magical earthy thing" is a great phrase and I plan to use it in the future!

Yes, that's one reason we have this forum I guess - to vicariously enjoy the active crabs in other people's homes.
