Plants

Post by C: ClareCrabOwner :) » Wed Mar 19, 2025 9:21 am

If I put plants in my hermit crab tank, will the crabs ruin the plants?

plants in hermit crab tanks don't usually last long, and will likely get destroyed and/or eaten. I have had luck with spider plants and pothos, but the spider plants get eaten pretty quick.

Thank you! I probably won't put my favorite flowering plants in there then :) (like my orchid!)
I'll try those plants soon!

oh, and I usually put my plants in pots before I put them in the hermits crab tank so the roots don't overtake the tank. I just use little terracotta pots or those fabric things.

Thank you! I suppose that would also make it easy to remove a plant if you ever changed your mind about it ;)

You don't have to worry about roots overtaking the tank, crabs can just chew through the roots if they come across them.
