Q about IO

I bought some instant ocean sea salt back in December and have been using that for the salt water pool. I asked my dad to help me with the directions but i’m still not sure if he’s correct because he knows nothing about crabs or “specific gravity”. I honestly don’t know what specific gravity means either. What i’ve been doing is putting 1/2 cup of instant ocean into an old gallon jar filled up with dechlorinated water.Image

I’ve seen the majority of my hermies toe dip into the pools and only 2/10 have fully submerged in both pools.

I use 1.5 tbsp per 24 oz, or 8 tbsp per gallon. 8 tbsp equals about 1/2 cup, so I think you're good to go!

PS- I've never seen my hermies go all the way in their pools either.

Yes, that is correct. From the 'water' care sheet:

All of the major salt brands are measured the same, depending on how much you need:

1 gallon of water to ½ cup of salt mix
½ gallon (which is 2 quarts) of water to ¼ cup salt mix
1 Pint (which is 2 cups) of water to 1 Tablespoon (which is 3 teaspoons) salt mix
1 cup of water to ½ Tablespoon (which is 1 and ½ teaspoon) of salt mix
