Could she be molting AGAIN?

Post by Cate1129 » Sat Nov 29, 2014 1:01 pm

I posted a few days ago about a molter I accidentally uncovered. She was up and all over the tank that day. She ate and spent a lot of time in the salt water pool ( nearly emptied it!) and then the next morning she was under again. Is this a good or bad thing? She looked to me like she had molted while she was under for that previous month, but had a gel limb where her small pincher should be. Could she be molting again so soon? She is a small crab and I have only had her about 2 months.

When crabs lose limbs right after a molt, they sometimes go down early to grow the limb back. It is most likely that she is molting again, which is a good thing.

Thank you! I am hoping that is why she went back down and not because I stressed her to death!
