Long Molt
My hermies have been under for at least 6 weeks. They ate like crazy for two weeks prior. I'm still super worried. They don't have windows like they normally do so I'm frantic. I think the thing I'm worried about most is death without my knowledge. I do not smell the death smell, but I'm worried that the substrate could hide their smell. They are both about medium sized PPs. Does anyone have any advice/words of encouragement? Thank you! You all are great!

6 weeks doesn't sound overly long to me. When they are digging to molt, they will usually close up any "windows" through the glass and always close up tunnels. I know it's hard not to worry about our crabbies. :grouphug:

My medium/large was down 7 weeks. My small/ medium was down around 5. I never saw or heard them while they were down. Both were first molts with me.

It seems like it's been longer than 6 weeks but I don't know.

Are you sure he's not sneaking up at night for food or something?
Try not to worry, they've done this several times before for them to be at that size and a few weeks is pretty normal. Just keep up his conditions, make sure the sand stays sandcastle consistent and take a breather. I'm sure he's fine!

Re: Long Molt
One of my small crabs took 4 months to molt. 6 weeks isn't that long, I wouldn't worry just yet :3

My large hermit crab escaped his tank and when i found him he was covered in attic soot and missing a leg and a half. He has been down for 5 weeks and i wouldnt blame him if he stayed down for 5 more weeks.
