Green algae in substrate near molting crab
Hi everyone there is some green algae forming around general area of crab in substrate . Just curious if that's a problem? In years I've never had any algae and have had no problems with molts but I haven't been able to remove/clean area because of crab location. Thanks!

Can you gently scoop off the top layer of your substrate and if you have fresh wood in your tank that is around it..remove it & sterilize the wood. Any other decorative items I would take out very carefully in case your crab is under a water / food bowl and wash and rinse then dry. If your crab s molting under them get a saucer or lid of some kind and place over him.. do not cover him with out a top over him check your tank humidity and temp conditions.

It's completely normal and a sign of a healthy tank. It is completely harmless.
This is my four year old algae patch on my molting iso tank. I kept it even though I had to gut the tank two months ago to move it.

I have this on my 20l,it is from light from the window I believe. If you do not like the way it looks you can buy a roll of window tint and cut a pc. to the tank size and level of substrate. It sticks on on off cleanly. It helps keep it dark if they molt by the glass also.
