Missing Leg.

Post by jodiellen15 » Sun Oct 19, 2014 2:42 am

One of my little guys came up from his second molt with me and he's missing a leg. He's acting perfectly normal: eating, drinking, frolicking. I'm still worried about him. It's not his big claw or small claw. It's just a walking leg. How should I feel about this?

Something may have went wrong during his molt that caused the loss of the leg. We can really only guess. If he seems fine otherwise, just keep conditions right and continue to feed a variety of healthy foods. He may go down for another molt sooner than he normally would, to regrow his missing limb.

I had a crab that was missing a leg, and he did back-to-back molts and regrew it during the 2nd molt. He literally came up for 1 day - we cleaned the tank - got new substrate in, and he went down again. Next time I saw him, he had his leg back!

I hope he waits to do a molt but if he does, he does.
