Can molting fix an eye??

Post by Crabbyshack » Thu Dec 01, 2016 6:55 pm

I know molting can help a crab regrow limbs so I was wondering about eyes of maybe it can fix them. I got two new crabs to add to my colony a week ago and didn't notice at the time, but one appears to be blind in one eye so he's been named cyclops. Has anyone delt with something like this? Image

I've heard that the eyes are one of the most difficult things for them to fix. He may or may not regain vision.
I'm sure there are others who know more, but he still should be able to live a healthy life regardless.:)

I love his name! And he is a cutieImage This has not personally happened with our hermies but from what I have read on this forum, and as Rawrgeous mentioned above, it can be more difficult to repair the eye. It may even take several molts and even then he still may not have much vision in the affected eye. Either way, looks like he's adjusting to it just fine :)

Thanks!! I'm really glad I got him. He seems happy so far just a little cautious around the other crabs. He dug down yesterday so I think he might be going to molt.

Awe, Sure hope it improves! At least he/she doesn't have to worry about predators! Please keep us updated if it heals physically!
