HCA: Hermit Crab Association

i just had a crab (larry) come up from a molt (he was new and probably also destressing) and it was between one moth and two (he’s med/ large) and of course he cane in a painted shell he refused to change shells when i got him
but now that he came up from his molt his shell is completely banged up around the opening line and cracked and chipped and missing big pieces out of it
now i’m a little freaked out because it was a painted shell and i don’t know what happened with the missing parts

Sounds like he modified the opening so it fits better. If the pieces are missing there’s not much you can do without taking the entire tank apart.

I would leave them be and pick them out as you find them.
