Unsterilized Shells in the tank

Hey, I went on a weekend trip to visit some friends, so I left my mom to take care of my hermits, and when I came back I found that she had put some huge shells into the tank, without sterilizing them first. Since I saw that they were huge, I thought, what the heck, I'll clean them later (I got home from my trip really late and was very tired), but the next day I found that Pinky Wonder had changed into one of those shells. Is is OK for her to be in a shell that wasn't sterilized?

That's a tough one. Where did your mom get them from? Were they in a package? Did she at least rinse them out first?

I'd give your little guy a bath just to get as much out as possible, just in case.

Actually a friend of mine dropped them off, he bought them at Playa del Carmen near CancÃºn and they seemed pretty clean, they were packaged and all. She didn't rinse them, she just put them in there, and Pinky seems just fine, but I will bathe them.
